I am not responsible for any problems you experience as a result of trying to do anything described here. The hack documented here worked fine for me but may not work for you far any number of reasons.
This is not really a hack, just a little documentation for a product called the Horn Crest from Performance Products. I have the basic plain black steering wheel which looks pretty boring. My 911 has the AJ USA 930S Steering Wheel and I really like the crest in the middle. I thought I'd give this one a try.
In the complexity department this one is about as easy as it gets. If you can pump your own gas you can easily do this hack. It comes with basic instructions, the crest and an acohol pad. You basically just clean the crest area with the alcohol, let it dry, then apply the crest, sit back and enjoy.
After doing it I started to think what would happen to it if the airbag should go off. I tried pulling at it pretty hard and it didn't come off. I'm going to have to find some pictures of the airbag deployed in a Boxster to see how it opens up. Who knows, I might just yank it off just to be safe.
