Yellow's Day at the Track
Gingerman Raceway - June 12 & 13, 1998

Yet another trip to South Haven, Michigan, this time with my wife Lily for a weekend of PCA Chicago sponsored Driver's Education. John drove with us to South Haven, but then continued on to Canada for a weekend at Mount Tremblant.

We had a little rain this time, so we learned two things:

  1. We need to find a tent for us to sit under while it's raining that will fold up small enough to fit in one of the Boxster trunks.
  2. How to drive a track in the rain.

It stayed dry long enough for us to have some fun and get some good speed going. Also, my instructor Lee was VERY helpful in fine tuning my line, braking and downshifting that my time improved dramatically. Jason was also there with another one of the 5 total Boxster at the event. Here are some pictures of Jason and his car (black Boxster number 986) and some other cool cars at the track.

Lily let Lee drive the Boxster for one of her sessions to get a feel for what it could do. It's hard to tell, but that's a 911 RS in front of him and he was able to tail him for several laps.
