Brandenburg Gate and Parliament Building

On the east end of the Tiergarten is the famous Brandenburg Gate. It's famous because this used to be the main entrance to the city and the route the king used to go to his hunting grounds in the Tiergarten. It also did stand pretty much on the site of the Berlin Wall. Also nearby is the Parliament building. Most of the building is old but one thing that you notice immediately is a modern glass dome on top of the building. There is also quite a lot of construction going on nearby as in much of Berlin. Since the parliament recently moved back to Berlin much of the construction in this area is new government buildings.

There was a tour of the inside of the Parliament building but the line stretched for blocks so I decided to skip it. This area in general had a much higher concentration of tourists than any other area I visited. Because of this I didn't stay long.
