It's not easy to find but it's possible to drive up into the hills to
get a closer look at the Hollywood Sign. You basically need to drive
up through residential neighborhoods. The streets get tighter the higher
up you get only to end up at a dead end. There really isn't any place
to stop and linger.

Hollywood Hills and the Sign
Since I was already here I drove up into the Hollywood Hills to see
the famous Hollywood sign. It's a nice drive up narrow windy streets.
The whole time I wondered what makes people live up here. It's certainly
not for the view.

Around Santa Monica
The other thing we did was hang out in Santa Monica. The highlights there
are the Santa Monica pier and the 3rd Street Promenade. The pier is actually
pretty small. There is a small amusement park there as well as vendors
selling all sorts of tourist crap. Along the pier were the usual street
performers as well.
