As we headed up we found the low elevation runs to be empty and still perfectly groomed. Instead of immediately heading to the top we decided to do a couple runs down the low runs. As those runs got busier we went up the mountain a bit more and ran a couple runs in the middle of the mountain. Those were the best. Springboard in particular was very smooth and steep enough to be fun. At times we were going down so fast my ears were popping.
Eventually we worked our way up to the peak. We of course took some pictures then tried some of the blues in what is called the 7th Heaven Zone. Even though the snow was pretty decent I wasn't crazy about it mostly because I found it very bumpy. Because we needed to take some very flat catwalks to get there we didn't take the route up the front of the mountain again.
After that run we went back to the top and that time we did the Blue Line run. It was nice but difficult to get back to so we did Jersey Cream. We liked it so much we did it several times. On the way we stopped to peek down the Coulair Extreme double black run. Eeek!
The rest of the day we explored various parts of Blackcomb. We really liked it. Lily and Melanie worked their way back to Blackcomb and met us at Crystal Hut for lunch.
At the end of the day we decided to ski our way back to the Marriott by hugging the side of the mountain it was on. Bad idea. The weather had been very warm and the snow was already getting very slushy in the afternoons. The far side of the mountain got us to a trail that was closed due to bare rocks but unfortunately we had no choice. We carefully worked our way down that way and eventually ended up at the hotel. The bottom of the mountain had the consistency of a Slurpee.
