Parrot Jungle Island

Parrot Jungle is popular because it's so convenient. No need to drive far, it's only about a 5 minute drive from South Beach. It's a little on the pricey side but the convenience makes up for it. If you're local or going to be around a while the annual pass is very reasonable so you can come back again and again.

The main attraction are the Parrots around the park which you can feed and take pictures with but there's a whole lot more. There are three stadiums with animal shows, the best part for my kids. There is also a petting zoo, gardens, an Everglades exhibit and new for this year is a huge water slide. Unfortunately the slide was way too big for my kids (ages 2 and 4).

We had been here a couple times before but this was the first time we saw the Winged Wonders show. It was short but really nice. The highlight was the super rare and exotic Cassowary, listed as the world's most dangerous bird in the Guinness Book. It's skin is also blue under those feathers.
