Greg's Dark Blue 911 - Hacks

This is the beginning of my 911 hacks section. As I make changes to this car, I will document them as best I could on this site. I'm a huge fan of pictures (they are worth a 1000 words ya know) so you'll find a lot of them here to explain how I did things.

The Hacks documented so far are:

Sabelt 6-Point Harness Installation
After driving my Boxster on the track a couple times, I quickly realized what a good idea a harness is, and while I'm doing it, I might as well get a nice 6-point harness from Sabelt.

Custom Hotlap Bracket v2.0
It's hard to guage your improvement on the track without a good timing system.

Autothority Chip Installation
Here I upgrade the chip in my 911 to get a little more power. It took me about 2 hours, so it should take you less.
Recaro SRD Seat Installation
Find out how easy it is to save 30lbs (per seat) and increasing safety by replacing your stock seat with a Recaro SRD.
I also recently upgraded the passenger seat to match.

Fikse Wheels
In my quest to get better handling I picked up a set of Fikse FM/10s to replace my perfectly good (but narrow) Fuchs. While I was at it I got a set of Yokohama A032R tires.

930S Steering Wheel
My quest to enhance the driving experience continues. My original steering wheel's leather was starting to come apart so I decided it's time to upgrade to a sportier steering wheel. It didn't quite turn out as great as I had hoped. The latest update is showing some options for a spacer to position the steering wheel a little further from the dashboard.

Dead Pedal
Newer Porsches come with a dead pedal. I find it makes it more comfortable on long trips and gives you a place to push against when getting yourself into your racing seat.

DAS Rollbar
I helped a friend install a DAS rollbar in his 993 recently. I was really impressed with the quality and how easily it installed. I eventually got around to getting one for myself. Unfortunately it wasn't so simple. The rollbar went in fine but what I didn't realize is that it doesn't co-exist peacefully with my Recaro SRD seats! I did eventually get the seats to work adequately with the rollbar.

Rebuilt motor and upgraded brakes
At the end of the 2000 track season the car was definitely not feeling right. It was down on power and burning a lot of oil at the track. Long story short the car had a complete rebuild. While the motor was out I had a couple little things done to it to make it a teensy bit faster.
