Greg's Dark Blue 911

Blackhawk Farms Raceway - August 15, 2001

Finally a relatively uneventful trip to Blackhawk Farms. Except for the weather it was a great event. The weather was overcast most of the day with occasional drizzle. It was rarely enough to affect grip. I was actually surprised how much grip the car maintained throughout the day. This event was once again sponsored by PCA Chicago Region.

There are usually some neat and exotic cars that show up to these events at Blackhawk. This time was no exception. At first we only saw the usual 996 twin-turbo and the same Ferrari 550 we've seen before. Then the semi from Kelly Moss Motor Sports showed up and rolled out a pair of interesting cars. The most interesting was the GT3RS which was amazingly fast and extremely loud! It was by far the loudest car at the event.

It's pretty rare to see an NSX at PCA track events.

Jason was pushing hard as usual. He later was concerned that there are other 993s on the track that he's not able to keep up with. Maybe he should switch to Hoosiers like the other guys?

My lap times weren't as good as the previous time I was here. I attribute this to not wanting to go 100% with the nearly constant light drizzle. Even so I was doing 1:28s with several laps at exactly 1:28.80, how's that for consistency? Given completely dry conditions I really think I could have gotten into the low 1:27s. That's my goal for next time.

Nice fast M3.
