Metropolitan Musem of Art

This is the art musuem where you find the classics. We had originally intended to visit the Guggenheim but we didn't know they were closed on Thursdays. So we walked a couple blocks down 5th Avenue to The Met instead.

Having our fill of modern art at MoMA earlier in the day we decided to stick mostly to the "classics", the older the better. We only had a couple hours so we had no chance of seeing the entire museum anyway.

Seeing all the Egyptian stuff really made us want to see the real thing.

On the roof of The Met is a small garden area with additonal art, mostly of the "interesting" kind. There is also a stand where you can buy some drinks and of course enjoy the view of Central Park. Almost all the works on the roof are by the contemporary Chinese artist Cai Guo-Qiang.
