On her 10th birthday Jasmine wanted to get scuba certified. The on-line coursework was going slowly but the trip to Belize provided the impetus to get it done. I signed her up for the PADI eLearning on-line course. That involved watching slideshows and video clips at home and completing quizzes and tests.

The next step was to sign up for in pool lessons at Underwater Safaris in Chicago. There she did two Sundays of lessons with an instructor in their pool but nobody wants to do checkout dives in a quarry. So when Vince asked me if I wanted to join him in Belize for spring break I though it would be perfect!!!

I scheduled her checkout dives for the day after we arrived with Ecologic Divers. The first day was overcast and windy, much less than ideal conditions. The shop contacted me a couple days ahead of time and asked to move her checkout dives to the afternoon because the morning group was getting big. She ended up having only one other classmate which ended up being ideal. Lily decided to go with her to keep her company and I did a dive with a regular dive group. The second day I dove with Jasmine but Lily stayed at the house because she wasn't feeling well.
