The girls insisted they needed Snickers bars to do the hike. Fortunately at the cafeteria where you buy the ferry tickets they had Snickers available! After paying US$27 for ten Snickers bars we boarded the ferry. We decided to sit upstairs to take in the view despite the chilly weather.

We were told this hike was much easier than base of Torres and they were right, it was mostly pretty flat. We really enjoyed walking along Lago Skottberg which was an amazing shade of blue that was different than the Lago Pehoe below it but also one of the places affected by the massive forest fire in 2011 so there were large sections of these charred trees. We called that area the "Forest of Doom".

Melanie's favorite however was how every few minutes the winds whipped up small twisters on the lake that would eventually go on land with near hurricane force winds. We enjoyed the weird effect both coming and going.

After a while the regular forest returned and eventually we got to the river and the camp site. We had a quick lunch there and kept walking but quickly realized that to make the afternoon ferry we would need to turn around soon. We found a nice spot to take some scenic pictures and turned back.
