While Melanie and Steve were having a fabulous time kayaking from Rio Serrano to Puerto Natales for three days we decided to do something relaxing. The girls wanted to do horseback riding and the staff at the Hotel Indigo were able to locate a nearby outfit that could accommodate us for an all day ride to see Condors up close.

They picked us up in the morning and drove us about 30 minutes outside Puerto Natales to a ranch in a nice valley near a lake. It was a nice small group of six people, the four of us and a nice German couple.

The ride started out along the banks of the lake then slowly zig zagged up the hill. We stopped on the way up to give the horses a break since it was a nearly 2,000ft ascent. When we finally got there the view was amazing! The guide said that since it wasn't that windy we may not see Condors but apparently it was enough because we saw several flying around.

After spending some time taking it all in at the cliffs in we slowly descended and stopped again in a small valley protected from the wind for lunch. There we enjoyed some local breads, meats and cheeses with hot coffee and tea.

The weather was nice but kind of chilly. The girls loved it especially that the horses were REALLY gassy.
