“Don't mock the language!”

It was a nice day so we decided to visit the historic area of San Juan. San Juan has a long and interesting history and we wanted to see a glimpse of that.

It wasn't a bad drive from Gran Meliá to San Juan. It took a bit to find the Old Town area but once there we found one of the two parking garages near the cruise ship terminal to park for the day. We walked towards the harbor and made a quick visit to the La Santa Catedral San Juan Batista on the way.

The highlight was visiting the Castillo San Felipe del Morro. The fort is right at the entrance to the harbor on a beautiful site. It was very windy and many locals and tourists were flying kites on the expansive grassy area.

Inside the fort we walked around and took in the history of the site. Afterwards we took the free trolley to the Castillo de san Critóbal where we just walked around the outside. After that we headed to the Plaza Colón across from the Old Casino where we found a vendor selling some amazing baked Empanadas. Then we got some frozen yogurt at Fro-Yo and headed back to the hotel.
