Ethiopia and Qatar: Trip Report
The annual "trip of a lifetime" this year is to Ethiopia with my friend Margaret
and former WNBA player and Olympian Ruth.
This whole trip happened because Margaret was born in Ethiopia and lived there until she was 12. She has never been back since so she really wanted to go back to the place where she has such fond memories.
We flew Qatar Airways so that means we have to fly through their hub in Doha. On the way there we only had a couple hour layover but on the way back we had a layover over nearly 48 hours, which meant pretty much two full days in Doha.
The bulk of the time was to be spent in Ethiopia, visiting all the cool historical sites that Margaret had heard about but never visited while she lived there as a child. Ethiopia has 7 UNESCO World Heritage Sites , the most in Africa and surprisingly more than Egypt.
Margaret actually flew to Ethiopia a week
before Ruth and I did where she had an amazing driver/guide named
Solomon take her to the little towns she grew up in and visited as
a child which were primairly to the south of the capital Addis Ababa.
