Our base camp for the trip was Addis Ababa, a bustling city of over 3M inhabitants. It's interesting in that it feels mostly third world with quick a few first world elements scattered around and much construction taking place all over so this is a city that is changing.

We stayed at the older but still nice Hilton Addis which is conveniently located to government builds and various embassies so it's a busy hotel. The night we left they hosted two large weddings so it was packed. The day after we left the hotel was to host an African Union meeting.

The sites we visited in Addis were the Holy Trinity Cathedral, Entoto Maryam Church and the National Museum of Ethiopia where the highlight is seeing the 3.2M year old skeleton named Lucy.
