Our original itinerary called for us to pop into the Simien Mountains, see the monkeys and continue on to Aksum. A couple days before Margaret looked at the plans and thought that if we push it a little we can squeeze in a night at the Simien Lodge and really experience the mountains more.

When we got there we went for a ride into the mountains and saw several groups of Gelada Monkeys which were amazing. We continued on to the higher areas and ran into a group of Ibex, the local mountain goats. They were pretty cool. On the way back we also ran into a couple Klipspringer along the side of the road. We then pulled over and our guide pointed out a Serval Cat which was cool then we realized that was the site of our little hike to see a waterfall. Unfortunately it's the dry season so the waterfall itself was not impressive but the views didn't disappoint.
