The Ioa Valley is a valley on the north part of Maui that was carved out of a volcanic crater by eons of erosion. This part of Maui gets a fair amount of rain. It was a nice park, but we were disappointed how small it was. We were hoping to do a fair amount of hiking, but the trails were very short.
The highlight of the valley is the Ioa Needle, a pointy formation of harder rock that survived the erosion better than the rock around it. Viewed: 240 times.	Here is a shot of the needle itself. After visiting the valley we drove around the north side of the island for a little while and took in some of the sights. Due our restriction on altitude, we couldn't go to Hana at all. We had to wait til the following morning to visit Haleakala.
The road was nice and twisty. We went as far as it turned to one lane, then turned around. Viewed: 61 times.	Lily's favorite sight was this cow. Viewed: 56 times.
