My wife got sent for a several day business trip to Los Angeles in November of 2001. Since the weather was already starting to suck in Chicago the weater in LA is usually nice I was happy to join her.

While there I took in some of the sights in Hollywood but since I had been there before I didn't spend much time there. But, I really enjoyed my visits to the La Brea Tar Pits and doing some scuba diving off Santa Catalina Island.

La Brea Tar Pit & Page Museum
One of the museums unique to LA is the Page Museum at theLa Brea Tar Pits. Here you will find on display dozens of fossilized skeletons of various animals that got stuck in the tar pits in this part of LA.

Aquarium of the Pacific
I went to San Pedro to pick up my rental scuba gear for diving near Catalina the next day so it was just a short ride over the bridge to Long Beach. The only thing I visited there was the Aquarium of the Pacific.

Diving Catalina Island
The other highlight of my trip to LA was scuba diving off Catalina Island. I had never been diving off the coast of California so was really looking forward to it. I was NOT disappointed!

Hollywood and Santa Monica
Two other touristy spots are Hollywood where you can see the Mann's Chinese Theatre, Walk of Fame and the Hollywood Sign. In Santa Monica there is the beach, Santa Monica Pier and 3rd Street Promenade.
