San Antonio & Corpus Christi, Texas : Trip Report
Jump to:

My wife got sent for a several day business trip to San Antonio in October of 2001. Since the weater was already starting to suck in Chicago and I've never been to San Antonio I happily went along.

While there we visited the Alamo, the other Spanish Missions and enjoyed restaurants along the River Walk. Once I ran out of things to do on my own in San Antonio I drive around 150 miles to Corpus Christi on the Gulf of Mexico coast to see what was shaking there.

The Alamo
One cannot visit San Antonio without paying a visit to the Alamo. Here about 180 Texans fought against about 5000 Mexican soldiers in an attempt to keep Texas free.

The Missions
The Alamo is only one of five Spanish Missions within the city limits of San Antonio. I spent a couple hours driving down Mission Road visiting them all.

The River Walk
No visit to San Antonio would be complete without a visit to the really quite nice River Walk. This is where you will find some good restaurants and other tourist attractions.

Corpus Christi
After I ran out of things to look at in San Antonio I drove 150 miles to Corpus Christi, on the Gulf coast. There I visited the Texas State Aquarium and the USS Lexington aircraft carrier museum.
