Snowbird Resort : Park City, Utah : Trip Report

However they too had above freezing temperatures the last few days and it only dipped below freezing the night before. It was also obvious it dipped below freezing AFTER they groomed the previous day as the snow was like rumble strips but made of ice. It was VERY difficult to snowboard there for novices like us for that reason, coupled with the fact that even the easy runs have many VERY steep sections and lots of very narrow catwalks. Both of those made far more difficult with the icy conditions.
We took the tram to the top and thought about playing on the back side of the mountain but decided to try the very long blue run that goes all the way down. It was tricky for the reasons described. Lily had it after that run and called it a day. The men decided to try our luck on some blue and green runs on another part of the mountain. That actually turned out to be even icier than the first run! After two more runs the rest of us called it a day. The winds were really kicking up and pretty much all the lifts and the tram were closed so the day was cut short anyway.
In better conditions we could see this being a really fun mountain.
