Fifth Day at Snowmass Mountain

The club had scheduled today at Snowmass so back we went. We awoke to fresh snow on the ground and flurries continued through the morning. Before noon the sun peeked out for a little while but then it was overcast again in the afternoon.

This time we headed to the Elk Camp side of the mountain hoping it would be better powder and less people. Well, the powder was great but it did get pretty crowded. We still had a great 'ol time through the trees in the deep powder. The trees were mostly far apart so the runs were very easy.

At one point we headed through some trees and ended up on a really rough mogul run with very deep powder. I noticed that there was exactly one existing track in this run when I ended up there. It was tough but I made it down ok. Woo hoo! The stuff I learned in class the previous day didn't leak out.

After a couple runs we headed back to the other end of the mountain for the scheduled club group photo. There we met up with Lily who was taking yet another class with Pablo. After lunch Pablo took us down to the easy terrain park and tried to teach us how to do jumps. It was tough because we'd do the jumps then hike back up to the top of the terrain park. That wore us out so we didn't do more than a few jumps. I was starting to get the hang of it but I was beat and sore and called it a day.

Very short clip of Lily and I learning some tricks in the terrain park (38 seconds) Proof that even old farts like us can learn new tricks. The video quality isn't great since it was taken with a Canon S500 digital camera's video mode.

Wow is that Lily in the video?  She's boarding pretty good on the jumps and looking pretty fine in her "Black" boarding outfit.
