Once you get through the very tight airport-like security you end up in
the lobby of the public area. There was an art exhibit there and that's
also where you signed up and waited for tours.
Tours at the United Nations are given in several languages. There were
tours in English leaving about every 10 minutes. The other languages were
much less frequent.
The tour included an overview of the history and current structure of the
United Nations. Then we were shown each of the Chambers where the important
business of the United Nations takes place. The tour was done very quickly
since they have so many visitors. Our guide kept close tabs on the group and
wouldn't allow anyone to wander around at all for obvious security reasons.
