We joined up again with the Sanctuary Ski Club once again for a week of skiing and riding this time in Vail. Once again we chose a spring trip because we just don't like the cold.

We departed out of O'Hare and flew to Denver. From there we had to endure a 2 ½ hour bus ride to Vail. The bus did make the usual stop just west of Denver to pick up some "refreshments" for the rest of the trip.

We stayed at the Landmark Condominiums at the Lionshead section of Vail which is at the west end of town. This is home to a small mall (much smaller than Vail Village) and where the only gondola in Vail is located.

Around Vail
The town of Vail isn't as quaint as some. It's basically just some hotels and condos with something that resembles a "village". We stayed at the Landmark Condos which are right by the Lions Head Gondola.

Day 1 - Vail Mountain
Our first warm-up day. It was a great warm-up. We tried to cover a lot of the mountain but we didn't make it. We didn't push it and cut the day a little short at 2:30.

Day 2 - Vail Mountain
Our second day was also a lot of fun. We didn't have any fresh powder but it was sunny and warm and the mountain was well groomed.

Day 3 - Beaver Creek Mountain
For a change of pace we caught the bus to nearby Beaver Creek. It was another warm day but the snow was pretty good most of the day.

Day 4 - Vail Mountain
Today we tried to save time by taking the lift from Vail Village to get to the back bowls. We got there faster but still hand to contend with a lot of catwalks.

Day 5 - Vail Mountain
Lured by the promise of lots of fresh powder we got out extra early only to find about 1" of fresh snow early in the morning. We still had a good time despite more challenging conditions.

Day 6 - Vail Mountain
After the disappointing snow the day before we were pleasantly surprised by a good amount of fresh snow on our last day in Vail. The powder was great but underneath was mostly hard ice. Still, a great way to end an excellent trip.
