Around South Lake Tahoe

Unless you live in Northern California the way to get to Tahoe is to fly into Reno, NV and then find your way to Tahoe. We took the South Tahoe Express shuttle from Reno to the Embassy Suites. Trip was about 90 minutes, very scenic and pretty relaxing.

The Embassy Suites is about a block from the Gondola. They have a convenient ski concierge in the lobby so you don't have to lug your skiis/boards all the way to your room every day. The hotel also is right on the California/Nevada border so if you want to gamble the Harrah's Casino is literally just across the driveway and a couple other casinos are nearby as well.

Surrounding the Gondola is an open air mall with various shops, the ski/ride school and even an ice skating rink. If you need some supplies or a quick repair of your equipment it's all right there.
