Blackhawk Farms Raceway - July 10, 2002

Another great visit to Blackhawk Farms. Nearly perfect weather was only spoiled by my car dying in turn 4. It's been a long time since I attended an event hosted by PCA Chicago Region. The event was well run and the turn-out was very small which made for very empty run groups. What was different was they ran four run groups which made for some VERY small groups. At one point there were only 5 cars out on the track!

I was doing really well and getting my laptimes down into the 1:28 range and quickly improving with every session only to have the car die in only the second session of the day. It died in turn 4 and fortunately I was able to coast off the track using the access road in turn 5. I unfortunately wasn't able to diagnose the problem on the track and ended up having it towed back to Chicago so my mechanic could figure it out.

Someone brought a Mini Cooper S to the track?

Close-up of the engine.

Paul was having trouble with his car too.

So was John.

Dan giving his world famous 10 rules speach.

And finally a bunch of random pictures of cars at the event.
