Blackhawk Farms Raceway - September 28, 2001

Another great visit to Blackhawk Farms. Once again the weather was less than ideal. It was a bit nippy but at least it was dry!!! It's been a long time since I attended an event hosted by PCA Milwaukee Region. The event was well run and the turn-out was very small which made for very empty run groups. Even when there was traffic everyone was VERY polite and allowed me pass at the next available straight.

After spending a lot of time re-adjusting my Hotlap which paid off because it finally worked pretty reliably, first time in a LONG time. Other than that the car was set up exactly as before.

If you looked at my prior events you'll notice the pictures look different. Instead of using my digital camcorder for stills I use my new Nikon Coolpix 775 camera. I think it did a great job on the non-moving pictures but the lack of a shutter speed setting caused the fast moving car pictures to be a bit blurry. Oh well, can't have everything.

Spencer, John and Jeremy chat after prepping the cars.

My car prepped and ready to go.

Jeremy pulls his car off the trailer and shows off his new sponsor sticker.

A very sweet looking 993 twin-turbo that I didn't see on the track.

This Corvette Z06 looked pretty well set up.

A view of the paddock near the hot pit lane.

The cockpit of the Z06.

I didn't see this Mustang SVT on the track either.

The Z06 had a very interesting hood.

..and very big brakes.

Nice shot of our cars.

The Z06 on the left next to a regular C5 Corvette.

I really like the looks of the 993 twin-turbo.

And finally another shot of my car.

Jeremy was amazing! He was passing absolutely every other car on the track with the only exception being the 914 race car with Midwest Eurosport on hand for on-track support. He was regularly doing 1:21s and dipped into the 1:20s for at least one lap.

Last time I was here I said, "Given completely dry conditions I really think I could have gotten into the low 1:27s. That's my goal for next time." Well, by my second session I was doing consistent 1:27s and dipped below 1:26 on a couple occasions. Having a fast car to follow is a big help. This time I found a 996 and a track prepped 928 that were the perfect cars for me to follow and was able to follow them closely for several laps.

The cars in the fast group prepare for a session.

The only car Jeremy was not able to pass.

A 944 Turbo passes the start-finish line.

The 996 twin-turbo going through turn 4.

A great shot of Jeremy and a 944 in the turn 1 braking zone.

The 914 going through turn 5.
