The bus ride was just a few minutes. Once there we took the gondola all the way to the top. Well, not quite, there is another chair lift to the actual real peak.
The runs were nice and wide and the snow was still pretty good for spring. We did a couple easy warm-up runs. Melanie is still learning to snowboard and prefers the easier Whistler runs on her snowboard but prefers Blackcomb when she's on her skis.
After lunch Melanie got everyone to take the chairlift to the Whistler peak for some panoramic pictures. Well worth the visit. However getting down wasn't a whole lot of fun. Unless you want to take one of the black diamond runs down the face the easier blue run required a narrow catwalk down the back to a steep and bumpy but very wide run called The Saddle. It wouldn't have been so bad except at this point that run was mostly in the shade the the flat light made maneuvering around the bumps very difficult.
After that we did a few more easy runs then worked our way down the mountain to Whistler Village where we walked a few steps to the Blackcomb Gondola. The plan was to take it up then ski/board our way down the mountain to our hotel. Unfortunately we didn't time it well and the gondola got shut down just as we got to mid station we had to get out there and hike across the mountain back to the Marriott.
