Lion Country Safari

Still our favorite attraction for the kids in South Florida, Lion Country Safari continues to expand it's non-animal attractions. Before it was a nice half day excursion but with all the other things to do you can easily spend the whole day here with the kids. Since it was so hot in July we really appreciated the new water park area. The kids (ages 2, 4 and 7) all had a great time.

The highlight for the adults and older kids is still the drive-through safari. Despite the failing A/C in our now "mobile sauna" we still enjoyed it but drove through faster than we would have if we had actual cool air coming out of the vents. The only disappointment this time is the Lion area. They fenced in most of the Lion exibit rather than have them roam free like all the other animals. Despite the Lions now being separated by a fence they still absolutely insisted we keep our windows rolled all the way up. Grrr...

Fortunately it was mostly overcast so it could have been much hotter if the sun was out.

We have been here a couple times in the past: 2004 and 2001.

White Ibis were all over the place.
